Many Americans lead busy lives and find themselves frequently eating fast foods which contain high amounts of fat, sugar and carbohydrates. The end result of poor eating can often times lead to stress on the digestive system, indigestion and poor nutrient absorption.
The main function of the digestive system is to process and absorb food and nutrients.
The digestion process is complex and involves a host of enzymes, organs, and gastric juices that breakdown ingested proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. There are many factors that can effect how our bodies digest certain foods including insufficiencies in the pH of our stomachs and decreased production of digestive enzymes. Additional supplementary support may be needed to meet some of the requirements needed for proper digestion. Supplementation with digestive aids can provide the needed digestive enzymes and pH balancing needed for proper digestion.
There are a few different classes of enzymes. Enzymes that are responsible for breaking down proteins are called proteases, those responsible for breaking down starches are amylases, and lastly enzymes responsible for breaking down fats are called lipases. Primegest contains pancreatin, an enzyme derived from porcine pancrease and has amylase, protease, and lipase activity. Pepsin, bromelain, and papain also have protease properties. Betaine HCL and pepsin are also included to help bring the stomach to a more desirable acidic pH level. It is important to note that enzymes are measured in different units than most dietary supplement ingredients. Each enzyme has a unique unit of measurement including USP, GDU, and TU to name just a few.
SUGGESTED USE: 1-2 capsules 15 minutes before meals or as recommended by your health care professional.
